Badassery

*what you can't see is that Boy-Child#2 is directly on the other side of the child in this picture. And the object of the tiger's voracious appetite affection.

Do you ever have one of those moments where you're like, ohmygod this is like the coolest thing I've ever seen! And, hey! Look at the size of that animals paws, they're like, bigger than my son's head! Conflicted with...

...wait...

Perhaps I ought to get my children the hell out of here! And - just how strong IS that safety glass? And - who could I save first? And - how fast can a tiger eat my head? And - sandals aren't the best running away from ferocious animal shoes.

No one? Just me?

Once a peacock fell in love with Too in her stroller. I was too busy laughing and taking pictures to actually recognise the danger, until a keeper came over and tackled the damn thing before it jumped her...

But it sure was purdy... LOL

Haha - I love it...which one do I save first?! What a beautiful tiger!

I have a similar zoo picture. Except it's a gorilla throwing poo.

I would be too awe struck at the moment and just do nothing.

Could that be the roller coaster of that thing called life with children?

You just have to run faster than that other mother, so be sure to trip her on the way out.

We had the same experience with a lion and I had the same thoughts.

too funny! I don't think you could outrun the tiger...you'd just have to kill it with your motherly adrenaline rush you would have if the safety glass was not really safe.

I had a creepy moment like that with a panther in a glass box. He was looking at my toddler and seems way TOO INTERESTED.

Which, oddly, reminds me of the fat guy in Austin Powers who rubs his belly and says, "Yooo look like a BABY!" and then licks his chops.

Okay, i'll have nightmares tonight.

This is exactly why Saucy avoids the zoo and other pursuits of wilderness. This kind of stuff never goes down at the mall...

No way, man, the badassedness of that shot far outweighs any matter of life and death.

Oh, yeah. We let our daughter take a picture sitting next to a tiger in Aruba one year and thought it was cool. Then we came home and three months later the Seigfried and Roy attack happened. Color us stupid.

I think this every time I go to the zoo and the polar bears are pawing at the glass.

I will joke with the kids "Take the children! They're more tender"

I much the same experience with a polar bear. But fortunately I was childless at the time so I only had to worry about myself.

Hi There...you have a couple awards over at my blog!

I foolishly like to believe the big cats will behave just like small cats and let me pet them while they purr contentedly.

So accordingly to the Natural Selection theory, I would be the first one eaten.

I'll just stand behind Bad Mom b/c I was too dumbstruck to even read this post for a moment - all I could think of was "Oh my frickin' word...."

JCK said...

Yup. Have had those moments. Not necessarily with a tiger... But, aren't you the wild kingdom/cat badass family??

Yes! My sister said she was at the Philly Zoo, and her then toddler was running back and forth in front of the female lion cage...and the female lion was stalking him.

We were at the National Zoo this weekend, and at a dead end in a path. When we turned around, a peacock had blocked it's path with outspread tail feathers. At first we were thinking, "HOW COOL!" But then it wouldn't let us pass for about 15 minutes. I found myself thinking "I bet if I grabbed its neck as it attacked me...."

(blocked "our" path, not "it's" path...which is bad apostrophe use, anyway!)

That tiger puts the Ow in Meow.

Ah, yeah. I'd be nervous as a cat.

The kids, though - they're like "How cool!"

BTW- I added you to my blogroll. You kill me Tootsie Farlepants!
