Apparently I Wasn't Clear

What I said: "We need to put some sunscreen on you so you don't get a sunburn"

What she heard: "I need it on my feet or else they catch on fire and I don't wanna get fire"

I'm starting to understand why she was terrified of the beach as a toddler.

You probably said "You need to put some on your feet so they won't burn" and the literal toddler mind took it from there!

Either way, I would put on some sunscreen.

So funny, and she's so cute. I love the Pony. I'm not showing the picture to my daughter, or she'll want one. We're already wasting the college fund on Webkinz.

I hate it when my feet catch on fire!

Man, those SPFs are sure powerful!

Kids take things so literally! It makes for some often humorous discussions :)

What a doll!

Is that wax in your eyes or are you just happy to ignore me? That's the speed at our place.

So, you mean if I tell my kids they will spontaneously combust if they don't wear sunscreen, they might actually remember to put it on?

She is just too much. Good that you're protecting the skin on her feet. She'll appreciate that for years to come.

That reminds me of when I told my husband that I wanted to a new iPod for birthday, and somehow he heard, "blah blah blah stationary" instead. not quite the same level of trauma on my end but still was not a good day.

I understand feet on fire!! More sunscreen...more sunscreen!!

Kids are so funny...one time I told my son to "hold your horses" as he was walking down the stairs...he stopped, turned around slowly and said..."I got no horses"!! :-D

Adorable! Love that pony accessory - I hear all the starlets are sporting one these days.

Oh, man, we had the same problem with "haircut." Oy.

Yikes! That would make the beach a scary place.

Poor thing. Those literal ones are the hardest to understand.

Very cute. It was lost in translation.
