The Post That Makes You Say Awwww....and Maybe Ack!

As you can plainly see, Friday was the Mother's Day Tea at Girl-Child's preschool. Not only that, apparently some are behind in paying their May tuition. And have forgotten socks. When Boy-Child#2 attended this same preschool some few years ago, we mothers were treated to a pedicure as our special gift. Not one for being taken off guard, when I dropped my daughter off at 9:00am, I asked one of the teachers the requisite question:

Me: "You don't have to tell me what you're doing here today just let me know if I should go home and shave my legs"

Teacher: "When in doubt, shave your legs"

See? I not only give advice; I seek and heed it. I wanted to be surprised I just didn't want to be surprised.

We enjoyed a spread that consisted of banana-strawberry smoothies and cinnamon toast. I had forgotten how much I love cinnamon toast. (Note to self: Make this)

Some of us enjoyed it more than others.

Second picture. Third glass. I had to hide her keys.

Mother and daughter. We're both wearing leggings because I like to dress like a four year old. It helps me feel younger. So does sitting my 5' 8", one hundred and lksdjf pound self in a chair designed for four year olds. Also? I don't have one of those cameras that adds ten pounds. My camera adds anorexia. I don't know what the hell my clavicle and my manubrium are doing here but they are very proud of themselves! (Note to self: Enjoy occasional donut)

Quiet Cozy area where your child can administer a massage. And when I say massage I mean jump on your back. By the way, there's a mother out there right now who would kick my ass if she knew this photo was here. Let's not tell her, mmmkay?

This is where the magic happened. I say magic because I was *this* close to paying for a pedicure last Wednesday but magically ran out of time. (Note to self: Bullet dodged)

The finished product. Bright pink (otherwise known as fuschia) polish over existing plumby red and also major portions of toes. And underneath. Look for it in magazines this summer.

Sunday morning, Mr. Farklepants hog-tied and duct taped the children's mouths shut kept the children quiet so that I could sleep in. Until a ringing phone woke me at 9am. I'm not going to say who it was that called that early on a Sunday morning but it was someone who was eager to hear a "Happy Mother's Day". Hint: not my mom.

School made gifts from my boys were a painted ceramic tile (Boy-Child#2) and a jar full of love notes from Boy-Child#1 that said things like: "I love you because you're nice", "I love you because you give me food", "I love your hair", "I love how you do my laundry", "I love pie", "I love you because you gave me a dad", and "I love you because I do". You know what Boy-Child#1? I love my hair too. And pie.

We here at Vintage Thirty (and by we I mean me) hope you thoroughly enjoyed your Mother's Day!!!

Dude. I thought our daycare was all spiffy because they gave me a pen and a muffin. I see that we need to move to CA if we want the fancy dealings. A massage and a pedicure--now that's the life!

Definitely a banner day for you. It's going to be hard to replace that pedicure!

I was going to say that I wish Punkin's preschool had done pedicures, but I thought someone else was going to be doing the painting! The thought of a bunch of 2-year-olds with nail polish is truly frightening. It was bad enough with the glue and requisite macaroni noodles!

Glad you had a good day!

I want a camera that adds anorexia. If I could but find my clavicle it would be a good thing.

And a pedi? Niiiice. I've sported the paint-all-over look before and find it very relaxing. (Yeh, I'll get it any way I can.)

Aaaawwww Man!! If I could move back to the States just for stuff like this, I would!! I'm so jealous!!! And I do love that "fuschia over red toe polishing" happening there!! Vrrrry cool!
Please tell Karen that if she finds that "anorexic" camera, we should check about ordering in bulk!!

Now those are some toes to be proud of! Sounds like a great Mother's Day. Mine? Oh, I'm glad you asked! It consisted of a letter that my daughter worked on at school and then sent home with another kid - so I only know about the 'possibility' of a letter. And a guilt offering of a gift from my hubby at 10:30 last night - from Wal-mart. yep, I am loved!

"When in doubt, shave your legs" -- words to live by, I say.

Moms don't let kids drive full. (She is a doll.)

Sounds like you had a great weekend.

Give them another year or so on that style of massage - I've found 50lbs to be about the right weight for the back-walking massage.

The toes are fab!

Happy Mother's Day!

Sign me up for the bulk camera order, please. And I totally need a pedicure. Is Girl-child taking clients yet?

I love the pedicure. Looks very close to what I manage on myself... And then, to add insult to injury, usually a child steps on my foot before it is dry.

Sounds like the perfect preschool day. And yes, I think an occasional donut along with some daily ice-cream may help with the "taking 10 lbs off" camera shots!

What a wonderful post, Tootsie. The end made me tear up. They slay us, don't they...

I'm so glad you had a good Mother's Day and a good pummeling and nail polish fiesta at school, too.

And I've seen your clavicle. I can vouch that it is lovely and unanorectic. :)(O.K., people, she had an open neckline!Bossy saw it, too! Pleaaase...)

Dang, no cleavage shots.
Your daughter slamming the smoothies is too precious. I received a couple of brooches made from wood and sequins and a packet of art projects. But the best gift? Silence. A few extra moments of silence:)

I have had that same massage. Mmmmmm, relaxing.

Glad you had a great Mother's Day.

We had tea at my daughter's preschool as well, with out the lovely pedicures. We had song and dance instead. Pretty cute.

Only one problem, a mom I am quite familiar with, didn't show up for the tea. Her son just looked crushed. Bad mom!

3 glasses? Tsk Tsk Tsk. And, I'm jealous you got a pedi! I was not even told they were doing muffins at my son's MDO until I got there late wondering where everybody was...having muffins.

That's a lovely pedicure. Our toenails are the same color now, but I had to pay $25 for mine.

Wow, all I got at preschool was lemonade, some muffins and the company of my lovely daughter. I want a preschool spa!

Eat many donuts. You look hot.

And I'm jealous of the pedicure. I think I'd have wanted one myself!

Yeah...can I have that anorexic camera? 'Cause mine is being mean to me. ;)

Glad your mother's day was great.

Can I borrow your camera? I am going to take pictures of myself with it and tape them to my body when I go to the beach next month.

Seriously, a preschool pedicure & massage? Brilliant.

I was saluted as a Leader Mom in my son's class, then I left the whole family to shop on Mother's Day. I thought that's what it was about...?

That pre-school is setting the bar pretty high. Pedicure and massage?! I love it. I WANT IT!!!

What an adorable post - I feel like signing up Graham for preschool just for the social aspect of it (for me!)

wow...that is some fancy stuff from Girl-child's school! I'm impressed!
I got a very fragrant bag of herbal tea stapled to a pretty picture of a teapot colored by my oldest. And a sheet where he told all my secrets (favorite food, favorite TV shows, etc.). Cooper "gave" me a sweet picture of him pasted on a heart with all sorts of I love you's and a rose pin.
And yes, please eat a donut or hoagie. ;)

Super pretty toes :)

Awww, I love all the card sentiments. My preschooler's card declared that she loved me more than a whole bunch of other people, who she listed, love me. Which I thought was pretty cool.

And "I love you because you give me food?" Some dogs around here were slacking on Mother's Day.

A pedicure from your preschooler is hilarious and wrong. Must remember this for next year. Look out, Gramma!

Hmm, it might also make a nice Father's Day gift.
