Not So Tiny Toothless Dancer

I received a message on my answering machine from the school where Girl-Child takes her dance classes. Apparently her teacher is concerned? That Girl-Child might be getting bored? And would she like to try the class designated for 4 to 5 year olds? And not the class for 3 to 4 year olds that she's currently in? Which I find odd because Girl-Child talked for literally HOURS after her last class. "Did you see me with my hat?". "We were at the bar today" tossing back a few plies. "Did you see my posse"? [that is posSAY as in "jazz", which I did see, and not to be confused with her posseEEE, which she also has and I've also seen]. So you can understand my confusion at this concern that she may be bored when it is so obvious that she is not. I can only surmise that this class is full and they have a wait list and need to move her up? In which case, this is what they should have said. Because it isn't that she is bored. Nor could it be that the other girls are intimidated by Girl-Child's dance abilities which aren't VERY. Although they may be intimidated by her height. Which is considerably greater as evidenced by this photo:

And this*

*Do I really need to point her out? This was her recital in June of '07. It was also a month before her 4th birthday, so she was 3 y'all. She has since thinned out and grown MUCH taller while the other girls remained stunted their same height* I haven't called them back yet so I leave you with a cliffhanger of sorts. Keep yourself planted firmly on the edge of your seat I know you are! Aherm. And OHMYGOSH! I can't believe I forgot to tell you this but Girl-Child lost her first tooth LAST Monday! I wept. A little. Not much. But some, yes. I officially have no babies in my home. Her adult tooth pushed the baby out of the nest, so to speak. You may have dimples on your knuckles but if there is a grown up tooth in your mouth you are no longer considered a baby THAT IS A RULE AND A FACT. So I guess I'll go make that phone call and find out why they're trying to kick my daughter out of class. I'll leave you with this since I don't yet have a snapshot of the missing tooth this will have to suffice:

What have you been feeding that giant baby to make her teeth turn blue? Yikes!

Gah! That tutu picture is SO CUTE!

She's going to be a supermodel someday - she's a tall one!

How adorable is your girl-child!
Those chubby legs!!

I feel your pain on loosing her first tooth.
I'm sure the Toothfairy brought her something really special for the occasion.

Perhaps you have a child prodigy on your hands.

Oh, and those are some expensive looking veneers.

Oh I love little girls in ballet costumes! And yours is a cutie...even with the blue teeth!

Thanks! She's very bite-able if I do say so myself.

Those blue veneers were the result of about $500 dollars worth of Chuck E. Cheese tokens.

OMG! If you're four year lost a tooth then means that my five year old can't be far behind. GAH! I cannot, I simply CANNOT, deal with loose teeth.

That ballet photo is puh-rice-less! I will say, too, that I think the angle of the photo may have something to do with how tall she looks.

Oh! and thanks for the award! I'm so thrilled and honored! And WAYYY behind on my blog reading. Way behind.

As a teacher, I have seen many adults expect too much of tall children who look older than their actual age. Make sure they don't push her...wait, who am I talking to? I doubt this will be a problem.

That is so freaking cute...what a cutie. I can't believe that she lost a tooth at 4! I am dealing with that here at almost 7! Crazy. She is a girl ahead of her time.

She is so, so cute. My girl, also, is the tallest in her class. I love the costume. I have faith that you'll get to the bottom of the Great Dance Plot of 2008.

The first tooth is a big moment. You're allowed a tear or two.

Sheesh - 4??? Cryin' out loud, is that what normally happens??? I JUST got done with paying off the Pacifier Fairy, and now THIS? TOOTH FAIRY crap? Ugh.

Darling little - er - big sweetie pie. I could totally goosh her and eat her too (my kids often yell "I'm not ed-i-ble" to me, but I do NOT believe them. Nor should you.)

Oh, she's a doll. Though, like madame queen, I'm freaking out about loose teeth. I had no idea I would be having to deal with such things so soon.

That is ADORABLE. My daughter would look like that if lined up with her peers too.

Ahhh baby Tootsie is so cute. These pictures remind me of when I was about 7 years old in ballet class and my mom took a picture of me with my hands up in the air and everyone else was down by the ground. Oh and you can see a bandaid on my knee under my tights.

These pictures are ADORABLE. I love the first one where she is off in her own world. My little girl still has all the roundness and I eat it up.

Oh...a tooth. I think I would cry. Oh...my. I'm sure she was excited?

Tootsie, she's a living doll! I think she looks a lot like you, minus a few pounds. Good lands, I cannot believe she's so tall! And she lost a tooth! They do grow too fast.

I wish I had the pics from her very first recital on my computer. The other girls danced while she stood there with her fingers in her mouth. Ha!

kam~ Hi!!!! Yes! She definitely gets 90% of her genes from our side of the family. I'll try to scrounge up a pic with perspective!

vintage photo collage I am impressed. I don't think Ive met anyone who knows as much about this subject as you do. You are truly well informed and very intelligent. You wrote something that people could understand and made the subject intriguing for everyone. Really, great blog you have got here.
