No Pressure. Just Like Getting Ready for a Blind Date with Fifteenish People

Did you feel a breeze yesterday coming from the west? It was SoCal doing the wave for BOSSY. I toyed with the idea of enlisting the USC marching band to spell out her name in big letters on the field of the Colosseum while playing Fleetwood Mac's Tusk, but I don't have any connections and I'm more of a UCLA gal, anyway. So, just like many cities in recent weeks, a bunch of Los Angeles bloggers got together for a very BOSSY welcome. BUT! Important decisions needed to be made first. Like: flat iron or curling iron? Dark rinse or stone wash jeans? I guess it really depends on the assless chaps. Boots, heels, or flats? Colorful or neutral shirt? Sweater or coat? Real bling or fashion jewelry? Which of the 40 purses will be the lucky accessory who's a lucky accessory coochie coo? I don't want to look like I'm trying too hard. I prefer to look like I walked into my closet and magic just happened. "Oh this? You like it really? No, I don't know. Just threw it together". Lies v. white lies let's not split hairs.

(She is i am bossy)

We met at a restaurant. I removed my camera from my bag and what evening isn't complete without me also flinging my feminine hygiene products on the floor? We plied BOSSY with more guacamole because this is California and that is what we do. Put avocados on stuff. There was red wine, jack and coke, and a two or several three margaritas. Some water and who ordered the iced tea? There was discussion of blogs and who writes what, and why, and how it all started, and how unappealing the word "blog" itself is. We talked about our kids, our families, John Cusack, and stuff like OMG you're in a band? I'd love to tell you more about what was discussed but OHMYGOODNESS I can't stop thinking about BOSSY'S skin! It's flawless. And dewy. And I spent a good portion of the evening trying to figure out if she has pores or not. When we moved from outside to inside our chairs were side by side and I was all, "here let me sit next to you so that I can stare at you some more and no this won't bother you at all and don't be alarmed if I dig deeper because I brought gloves". I'd also love to show you more of the pictures I took but these were the only ones that either weren't blurry beyond recognition, or that someone BOSSY wasn't blinking. And all that were taken with the flash lean very heavily towards suck.

(Above pictured left to right: Leahpeah, BOSSY, and her lovely host The Jason Show)

(Above is yours truly with the lovable JCK!)

And just so you're not left with wondering what the final outcome was...
  • Flat iron
  • Something in between stone wash and dark, whatever, they were Levi's
  • Boots
  • Colorful shirt
  • Sweater? Coat? Neither
  • Jewelry? Both
  • Purse? Same ol' black leather bag because it was all "Dude. I'm with you everyday. You're gonna ditch me now? How you gonna play a pocketbook?"
  • Assless chaps were 86'd

Ooh, I'm so jealous! I'll be in New England when Bossy's in SF. D'oh!

Can I write how jealous I am just one more freakin' time?!?!
Am I the only one wondering just how Bossy is doing this? No..not the driving, meeting people and talking....I'm talking about the drinking and the eating and still having flawless skin, incredible hair...and seriously, her metabolism must be running a million miles an hour!!!

It's been great reading about all the Bossy Sightings and seeing faces to go with names!!!

Levi's..always a good choice.
Black bag...again..good.
Assless chaps...were they a part of that whole "mechanical bull story" you're not really telling us about?!?!

I walk into parties with my dress in my Spanx, you drop tampons on the floor in front of popular bloggers while fishing out your camera....it's like we're soulmates! Look for me soon on the cover of Vogue in my gym shorts, dicky, and poncho, with military issue combat boots, hehehe.

I'm glad you continued with the guacamole--it's definitely a SoCal thing.

You're so right about Bossy's skin. I have a fantastic picture of myself sitting right NEXT to Bossy!

I'm worried she'll have to be hospitalized for exhaustion by the time she gets home!

Sounds like a fun time was had by all. For a minute it sounded like you were getting ready for a date or something...

That's too bad you opted against the assless chaps. They really would have made for a memorable impression.

Let me get this right...

Guacamole, red wine, margarita, iced tea, Tootsie, JCK, Bossy AND feminine hygeine products?! Sounds AWESOME.

omg~ I totally had a dream about meeting Bossy when she comes to STL. I was preparing the restaurant (whatever, streamers are COOL) with another blogger and then we were sitting there just waiting. I looked at my watch and figured I had 15 minutes still and then REALIZED I WAS STILL IN MY PJ's! ACK. There rest of my dream was me trying to get home in some clamoring the Berlin wall drama documentary. Very weird. So I appreciate the dress code update. Trying not to hyperventilate cause I know I wanna come off like cool as a cuke, right?

I too am agog that she can travel and maintain flawless skin. Did you ask about Products???

Thanks for the update! I missed her Texas stop.

Tootsie, I try not to cuss on others blogs, but you look fucking amazing in that picture and I think I sort of wanted to marry you for a moment when I saw it and I am against same sex marriage and the whole night sounds great and I think it is so fantastic that you got to meet so many fellow bloggers.

You always look great, Tootsie, no matter what you wear. :-)

I think Bossy's trip to meet all her fellow bloggers sounds mahvelous! I would love a month off from home & work. LOL

And yes, PLEASE!!! what are the secrets to the "flawless & dewy skin"?

Jealous, jealous, jealous.

Not envious, which is the more well-behaved cousin of jealous. Nope.

Jealous, through and through.

You and JCK together--you are both gorgeous and lovely! You two should be the spokesmodels for all of blogworld.

Your handbag talks? Awesome.

I'm jealous. Between our vacation and M.'s drill, I managed to miss Bossy in both Louisiana and Texas. :(

How fun! It's such a trip to meet other bloggers!

Tootsie, it was absolutely the BEST meeting you and hanging out. What a great time it was.

And Tootsie is just as beautiful in person as she appears on her blog. And funny, too!

OK, the picture of you and JCK is going under my pillow tonight...if only you had one of the two of you with Bossy...*sigh*...

Mrs. G. said...

You and JCK look like you could be sisters. You are both fresh faced beauties. Glad you had fun.

I don't read her, but YOU are stunning. The chaps would've been fine, no?

Okay my question for tomorrow: men hair syles? Why does my spouse think Pat Riley hair is stylish? For 13 years I've been trying to "do something" with his hair. Any suggestions?

My God, girl, if I had dinner with YOU I'd be sitting all night trying not to stare, wondering if you had pores. ; ) Dewy, indeed! LOL!

Wineplz said...

wow...so jealous that I'm rendered speechless. Good thing I wasn't there, I would've just stammered and mumbled, said completely assinine things like "wow...how 'bout that salsa?"

But seriously, did you get the scoop on Bossy's skincare regiment/products?

Oh, and in the strange event that you're looking for questions to answer, do you have any good tips on how to do laundry more efficiently? I really am seriously ready to kill my family and their dirty clothes!

Again, an astoundingly good-looking group brought together by Bossy. Looks like it was fun, too.

Thanks for stopping by, Ms. Farklepants! I've been meaning for ages to drop in to see what you have going on over here because your BOSSY comments are so funny. So here I am, and I'll come back. Cheers!

Is that the Sagebrush Cantina?

I'd know that patio anywhere (of course I haven't seen it in 10 years as I'm a woman of propriety now and a woman of 2 kids and a husband)...but STILL...good to see it. It's like an old drinking buddy I haven't seen for ages.

And p.s.: glad you had fun!

Oh, boy. Bossy's coming to Portland, and I hope she's not too disappointed after LA...We do things a bit differently up here: you know, Birkenstocks and fleece to the Opera, the farmer's market, at a cool restaurant to meet a fabulous, totally cool pro blogger, where ever....Oh, well. She won't have to worry about being upstaged here, although all the moisture does give us the advantage of fabulous skin! Love your writing, by the way!
