Strappy and Feminine: The Gladiator

Something I've been seeing a lot of in my fashion magazines. I predict a lot of women walking around looking like Spartans this summer. Seriously. These are awful. The only time they're not awful is if you're Julias Caesar, Russell Crowe, or Jesus.

They look ugly right now, but by the end of the summer everyone will have a pair. Exposure seems to warp people's minds. How else to explain Crocs?

i was so afraid you were going to say these are a must have this spring.

But if I wear them, can I sleep with either Julius Caesar or Russell Crowe?

That's the only way wearing them would be worth it.

And yet everyone will want them. And they will look horrid. And it will be like the king who walked around naked thinking he had on a beautifully tailored suit.

Plus they make your legs look stumpy. What's good about that??!?

They look far too complicated for me to get on my foot in the morning. In the "WE'VE GOT TO GET TO THE ZOO BEFORE THE REST OF THE STATE, COME ON!" panic of the morning.

And with that 1/4 inch of plywood for my sole, why not just go barefoot?

Thanks for the un-fashion heads-up.

Personally, I can't wait to rock the gladiator look. It will go well with my gladiator attitude. GRRR!!!

By the way, I tagged you on my blog. It's just a silly meme, but I thought I'd let you know.

Enjoy the weekend!

They did look pretty good on that Spartan chick from 300. Although I bet she was sporting a nice pedicure and in reality I bet their toes were pretty grimey!

I couldn't agree more - surely they'll come out with some that look a little more attractive...?

The top pair reminds me of sandals I owned back in about 88', gee what a surprise. I thought some of those trends would disappear forever!

The ankle grabbing part says, "note: thick part here". Will only look good on 6 foot tall, size 0 clothes hangers called models. Let's see how many suburban matrons go for it.

Do you have one of those Russell Crowe pictures handy?

I'm with you on this one. I'd look like my ankles were doing bondage in these.

ugh, I have nice ankles, but wide short feet...these shoes would probably kill me! I'm sure a toe would get stuck and strangled in one of the bazillion straps...

I agree...those are fugly!
